On July 3rd, the Polish edition of The Light We Lost was released out into the world, and I’ve been tagged in the coolest Instagram photos because of it. So to celebrate, I screengrabbed some of my favorites. Thank you to everyone who posted photos of my book (and who continues to do so!).
Forest & Bluff Magazine just featured The Light We Lost as a great beach read, saying it’s “like Love Story for a new generation.” What a lovely way to start the month of July! Here’s their feature.
It’s probably not surprising to anyone that I’ve always loved reading love stories (or the love scenes in other kinds of stories). Brightly asked me to write about 10 of my favorites, so here they are.
Us Weekly called The Light We Lost one of the Must-Reads for July 4th Weekend. I love the company it’s in!
I couldn’t believe it when a friend sent over a photo of The Light We Lost traveling on the New York City subway as part of a promotion for audiobooks. If you visit tryaudiobooks.com/commute you can get a free download!
I was so honored that bookbub included The Light We Lost in this list of 16 Books to Read If You Love The Time Traveler’s Wife.
When I’m not writing novels or editing books, once in a while I’m a bookwriter for musicals. The photograph is from a workshop of Peanut Butter & Cupcake! (The Musical), based on the picture book written and illustrated by Bent Objects by Terry Border. Brad Ross is the composer, Christiana Cole is the lyricist, and Brandon Santoro directed. The actors were fantastic, and we had a great time seeing the musical on its feet. It will be performed this summer at Interlakes Children’s Theatre in New Hampshire, and I can’t wait!
I love that The Light We Lost spent its second week as a USA Today bestseller hanging out with Captain Underpants.
June 20, 2017 was the book birthday of the tenth and final book in the Sparkle Spa series, Glam Opening. I’ve been working on these books now for almost exactly five years. Kare Nagel at SimonKIDS sent me an email asking if I wanted to send her sample pages for a series she had an idea for on June 29, 2012. It’s been so much fun sparkling with her and the whole crew at Aladdin since then. I will always be grateful to them for giving me the opportunity to bring Aly, Brooke, and all the characters in this world to life.
I loved the review of The Light We Lost that was part if the reading list on The Stripe. My favorite lines were: “Oh my goodness – if you read one book this month, make this be it” and “[I]t felt so real and true (and reminded me of stories so many of my married friends have told me), and I will just say that I sobbed the entire last chapter. It’s an absolute must read.” (I loved the Sex and the City reference in the review, too…) If you want to read the whole thing you can click here: http://thestripe.com/2017/06/june-2017-reading-list/
