  • The Brooklyn Book Festival and Me

    If you happen to be in the Brooklyn-area on Sunday, Sept. 21, and if you happen to want to come say hello, I’ll be at the Brooklyn Book Festival signing copies of Sparkle Spa #1: All That Glitters and participating in a fun panel about books for elementary schoolers with Jon Scieszka and Lenore Look, moderated by Jen Arena. It’s at the Youth Pavillion from 12 noon to 1 pm–I’m not quite sure where the Youth Pavilion will be exactly, but I’m guessing there will be signs.

  • A jacket for BAD NEWS NAILS!

    Whoa! It’s a jacket for Sparkle Spa #5: Bad News Nails! The book will be out in stores on February 17, 2015, but is available for pre-order now wherever books are sold. (I wish I had a shirt with fringes like Suzy Davis’s. And I wouldn’t mind wearing Aly’s skirt either.)

  • My Polka-Dot Nails!

    So I got an interesting email last week from the folks over at Mod Cloth inviting me to create a fancy manicure inspired by one of their dresses and post it on my website. Apparently, lots of manicure-loving people will be doing the same thing.  Now, I’m not a nail artist–not even close–but I do love manicures, so I decided I’d have some fun and go for it.  And I figured I’d try to create a manicure that all the fans of the Sparkle Spa series could recreate–and that Brooke and Aly and their friends would love.  And so….inspired by this dress over at Mod Cloth (which is actually called the Author Outing Dress in Dots), I polka-dotted my nails!

    I used two coats of Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Pacific Blue, and then a Sally Hansen I Heart Nail Art Pen in White Round.  Then I put a layer of clear on top.  All in all, I had a lot of fun.  And now every time I look at my fingers, it makes me smile.  (Wondering if I should go buy that dress….)

  • Books of Wonder Appearance on June 19!

    I’ve got some fun news for anyone in the NYC-area. I’ll be part of a Beach Reads event at Books of Wonder on Thursday, June 19, from 6-8 pm with Joanna Philbin and Jen Calonita! Come by and say hi and celebrate summer with us!

  • ALL THAT GLITTERS Reviewed in Library Media Connection!

    Just heard from that All That Glitters will be reviewed in the August/September Library Media Connection. I can’t post the whole thing yet, but I can post this part:

  • An early glimpse of the Bad News Nails jacket!

    My Sparkle Spa publisher threw a party last night and my name tag had an early glimpse of the Bad News Nails jacket on it!  It’s not in color, but it’s still so cool to see Aly and Suzy Davis on there.  (The book will be out in February, 2015.)IMG_0776

  • A tiny peek into the Summer Love launch party at McNally Jackson

    On May 18, there was Follow Your Heart: Summer Love launch party at McNally Jackson Bookstore in New York City.  We had a Follow Your Stomach cupcake bar, a store-wide scavenger hunt, frisbees, raffle prizes, and some summer-ready lemonade. Here’s a tiny peek into what happened there..

  • Makeover Magic is here!

    Two early copies of Makeover Magic arrived in the mail today–and coincidentally, they match my nail polish perfectly! I think “Dive In” might now be my favorite summer nail color…

  • McNally Jackson on 5/18!

    There’s going to be a Summer Love celebration at McNally Jackson on Sunday, May 18 from 4-6. If you stop by, you might just get one of these Follow Your Heart frisbees. (A perfect conversation starter if you want to talk to a special someone on the beach….)Follow Your Heart Frisbees!

  • The Big Blue Marble Book Store on 5/17!
