I have some exciting news over here! Kirkus just posted a really nice review of All That Glitters (where they talk about Purple Nails And Puppy Tails too!). If you want to read the whole thing, you can click here. This is my favorite quote from the review:
I hope everyone out there is having a wonderful fall so far. Even though summer seems pretty far away, I already have the book jacket for my first novel for teens, which is coming out on May 1! It has thirteen different endings and even more paths to get to those endings, so you can find a new story each time you read it. Here’s what the cover looks like! (I totally love it.)
Time has really been flying by over here. I can’t believe school has already started in some places—and is about to start in others. I spent a lot of my summer writing and traveling. And it looks like that’s how I’m going to spend a lot of my fall as well. It’s exciting to be working on two series at once, but it means my laptop and I go pretty much everywhere together.
Anyway, I jumped on here today because I am incredibly excited to share the covers for the first two Sparkle Spa books with you all. I totally love how they came out and can’t wait to see them on actual printed books!
Happy spring, everyone. I know I haven’t posted on here for a while, and it’s mainly because I’ve been so busy writing! I’ve been writing the Sparkle Spa books that I posted about in October—the first two of which will be out on February 11, 2013—and I’ve also been writing another new series called Follow Your Heart, which will be published by Puffin in the summer of 2013. It’s for a slightly older audience and lets the reader decide which ending of the book is the best one for them. So many books to write! But that’s the best kind of problem for a writer to have.
Hey there. So I promised I’d come back when I knew more about my Simon & Schuster books, and I do! So I’m back! The series is going to be called The Sparkle Spa, and the first one is actually going to be published next Winter/Spring instead of in the Fall, so that the first TWO books can be published at the same time! It’ll feel like a series right from the start, which makes me very happy. And it means I’m going to be writing, writing, writing as fast as I can these next few months.
Hello everyone. I hope you’ve all had great summers and are enjoying your first weeks back at school. September has been a very exciting month for me so far, because I found out I’m going to get to write four new books! They’re about two sisters who love sparkles, nail polish, chocolate chip cookies, and most of all each other. Simon & Schuster is going to publish them, and the first one will be out next Fall! Once there’s a title—for the series and for the books—I’ll come back and let you know!
It’s May! Which means I get to start planning which books I’m going to read over the summer—one of my favorite things to do each year. I hope you all have a list of some summer reading books you’re excited about too.
Happy Spring! It’s so nice to see flowers blooming and leaves popping out on trees all over New York City. I’ve been keeping myself busy editing and teaching and writing and visiting readers—all things I love doing. Two of my visits this past month were different than usual, though.
Hello and welcome back to school! I’m incredibly excited this month because The Nina, The Pinta and the Vanishing Treasure got nominated for an award—the 2012 Young Hoosier Book Award, to be exact! Three cheers for all the Young Hoosiers—and their teachers and librarians—in Indiana! Also, if you’re reading this page while in Indiana and want me to come visit your school or library, please email me so we can set something up!
Time has been flying recently! I’ve been school visiting and conference speaking and class teaching and, of course, writing. I just found out some good news, though, so I thought I’d pop on here to let everyone know.
Wow, I can’t believe how quickly this fall has flown. Here are a few fun Alec-related links (and one me-related link) that I’ve been meaning to put up for awhile. Hope you enjoy!
The Ransom Note Blues just got a super nice review from School Library Journal that is going to run in their September edition!
Here’s what they said:
