A German Cover
The Light We Lost has a German cover! Only the book is called the equivalent of “We Are What Remain” in Germany. I love the different take on the U.S. art here…

I had a fantastic time narrating the audiobook of The Light We Lost and wrote about that experience for the Books on Tape blog right here.
I’m too excited to write that many words, so I’ll let the photos speak for themselves.
My wonderful UK publisher, HQ Stories, sent The Light We Lost to Julie Cohen, who had these lovely words to say about it:
“An affecting and beautifully-written story about love and missed chances, and how global events can change the course of a single person’s life.” – Julie Cohen, author of Together
Thank you so much, Julie! I’m so glad you enjoyed my story.
Last week I went on an incredible five-cities-in-five-days pre-publication tour with four folks from Putnam and two other (awesome!) Putnam authors, Bianca Marais and Courtney Maum. We visited San Francisco, Denver, Chicago, Washington, D.C., and New York City. It was a whirlwind of wonderfulness. Here are some photos of our travels:
My Italian publisher, Casa Editrice Nord, asked me to make a video saying hello to the booksellers in Italy (where my book is called Il Giorno Che Aspettiamo). I pulled all the Italian I learned at Columbia to the front of my brain and did the best I could. (You can see it takes me a bit longer to process words in Italian than it does in English…) Here’s what I ended up with.
Here’s the Swedish cover of The Light We Lost from Albert Bonniers Forlag–except in Sweden the book’s title translates to The World Without You. And the tagline says (so I’m told): On life choices, passion, September 11 and finding the first really big love.
I really love the gorgeous hand-lettered type face my name and the title are in on this one.
I just got a box of The Light We Lost tissues from my US publisher with Sarah Morgan‘s quote on them! How cute are these?
The wonderful folks over at Penguin Random House are running a sweepstakes and giving away free early copies of THE LIGHT WE LOST! If you want to enter, you can click here. (Or you can click on the image below.)
The Danish publisher of The Light We Lost sent over a beautiful jacket for their edition. Check it out!
I’m told that the tagline translates to: When the first love is the strongest. I think that’s such a perfect encapsulation of this story.
In the excitement of receiving the early copies of The Light We Lost from Putnam last week, I forgot to post about it here! They truly rendered me speechless.
My UK publisher, HQ Stories, sent The Light We Lost to Sarah Morgan, the USA Today bestselling author of the From Manhattan With Love books, and she liked it! Here’s what she said: “Emotional and heartbreaking. I predict a global tissue shortage.” Thank you so much, Sarah! (I’ll start stockpiling tissues now.)
